Reading Room

‍ Our ‍reading ‍room ‍is ‍a ‍quiet, ‍public ‍place ‍to ‍pray, ‍read, ‍and ‍study ‍the ‍Bible ‍and ‍Christian ‍Science ‍literature. ‍Reference ‍materials ‍include ‍various ‍translations ‍of ‍the ‍Bible, ‍Bible ‍dictionaries ‍and ‍commentaries, ‍and ‍as ‍well ‍as ‍the ‍Christian ‍Science ‍textbook, ‍and ‍other ‍works ‍by ‍Mary ‍Baker ‍Eddy. ‍Most ‍materials ‍are ‍available ‍to ‍use, ‍borrow, ‍or ‍buy.  We ‍also ‍have ‍the ‍weekly ‍Bible ‍Lesson ‍marked, ‍and ‍ready ‍to ‍study. ‍

‍The ‍Christian ‍Science ‍Journal ‍and ‍the ‍Christian ‍Science ‍Sentinel, ‍available ‍in ‍print ‍or ‍online ‍contain ‍inspired ‍articles, ‍editorials, ‍and ‍testimonies ‍of ‍healing. ‍The ‍bound ‍volumes ‍of ‍these ‍periodicals ‍contain ‍thousands ‍of ‍published ‍testimonies ‍of ‍healings, ‍a ‍fraction ‍of ‍the ‍healings ‍through ‍prayer ‍alone ‍that ‍have ‍taken ‍place ‍in ‍our ‍denomination ‍over ‍more ‍than ‍a ‍130 ‍years.

‍Also ‍available ‍in ‍print ‍or ‍online ‍is ‍The ‍Christian ‍Science ‍Monitor, ‍established ‍by ‍Mary ‍Baker ‍Eddy ‍in ‍1908. ‍The ‍Monitor’s ‍purpose ‍is ‍“to ‍injure ‍no ‍man, ‍but ‍to ‍bless ‍all ‍mankind.” ‍Mrs. ‍Eddy ‍started ‍the ‍paper ‍in ‍a ‍period ‍of ‍yellow ‍journalism ‍to ‍provide ‍a ‍balanced ‍and ‍accurate ‍view ‍of ‍the ‍issues ‍of ‍the ‍day. ‍Throughout ‍its ‍history, ‍the ‍Monitor ‍has ‍won ‍seven ‍Pulitzer ‍Prizes, ‍and ‍continues ‍to ‍be ‍respected ‍as ‍an ‍unbiased ‍source ‍of ‍news ‍today. ‍The ‍online ‍Monitor ‍can ‍be ‍found ‍at ‍www.csmonitor.com

‍Our ‍reading ‍room ‍is ‍located ‍in ‍our ‍church ‍at ‍1010 ‍Alvernon ‍(map) ‍and ‍is ‍open ‍on ‍Tuesday ‍and ‍Wednesdays ‍from ‍10 ‍am ‍- ‍2 ‍pm.  The ‍reading ‍room ‍phone ‍is:  520.325.1181.
